Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Zurich, Switzerland.
Welcome to Switzerland! Upon arrival, you will be met by a representative of Mayflower Cruises and Tours and transferred to your awaiting motorcoach. Flights should arrive by 12:00pm. Journey to the town of Basel where your captain and crew await to welcome you aboard your luxurious Emerald Cruises Star-Ship. Enjoy time to become acquainted with your new accommodations, and this evening, join your fellow guests for dinner onboard. Begin the day with a guided tour of Breisach, also know as the gateway to Germany’s Black Forest region. This afternoon, enjoy a scenic drive through the Black Forest Highlands on your way to the Hofgut Sternen complex located at the foothill of Ravenna Gorge, a place where history and tradition merge. This was the site where, in 1770, Marie Antoinette stopped with 52 beautifully decorated carriages on the way to her wedding to King Louis XVI. During this holiday season, see the picture-perfect Christmas market situated underneath the 130’ high Ravenna Viaduct where unique handcrafted regional items await your perusal. Meals: B, L, D
Upon arrival in Kehl (docking site for Strasbourg), travel by coach across the river to Strasbourg, the capital city of the Alsace Region in France. A local guide leads you on a walking tour through this picturesque town. Stroll along the Grand Île and through the charming Old Quarter, ‘La Petit France’. Admire the historical city center and UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its medieval black and white timber-framed buildings, old tanning houses, baroque sandstone buildings, canals and river locks and its centerpiece, the Gothic cathedral. Enjoy free time to visit the stalls of Strasbourg’s Christkindelsmärik, one of the oldest in Europe, before returning to the ship. Meals: B, L, D
From the port of Ludwigshafen, depart by coach for Heidelberg. Your guided tour of Heidelberg’s rich history includes a wine tasting and a visit to the ruins of Heidelberg Castle, overlooking the Neckar River and a red-roofed skyline. A stroll along the cobblestone streets of the Old Town touches on the Church of the Holy Spirit and the oldest university in Germany, further enhancing your visit to this historic city. This morning, en route to Koblenz, sail through the spectacular Rhine Gorge, where a landscape of castles and quaint towns awaits. Don’t miss the infamous Lorelei rock and statue and other photo opportunities that abound around every bend. Cruise to the 2000-year-old town of Koblenz, situated at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle Rivers. During awalking tour of Koblenz, see the German Corner monumentand traverse the cobblestone lanes of the historic city center. A visit to Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, crossing the river via aerial tram, is also included. Johannesburg is one of Africa’s biggest and most vibrant cities. It is the economic capital of Africa and the gateway to Southern Africa. Although not as famous as other South African destinations, there is plenty to do in Johannesburg and nearby Pretoria. The old city is a multi-cultural mixture of traditional medicine shops, Chinese restaurants, taxi ranks and ultra-modern skyscrapers. There are excellent museums, art galleries and organised tours of historical and political interest. The shopping is Southern Africa’s best and the many restaurants cater for all tastes. The nearby township of Soweto is Johannesburg’s most popular tourist attraction.

On this half day tour we take you to the top attractions Johannesburg has to offer. Some of the areas our tour visits are Hillbrow, Constitution Hill, Central Johannesburg, Braamfontein and Newtown. We start your introduction to Jozi with a good view of the impressive 269 metre Telkom Tower, as seen on many postcards of Johannesburg. We then enter the inspiring Constitution Hill – and Court (when not in session). Political activists like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were once held here. During a tour inside you will learn about some of the legal histories of Johannesburg.

Soweto is the largest township in South Africa with historical sites such as the Mandela House Museum, the house where Nelson Mandela lived from 1946 to 1962. Regina Mundi Catholic Church, which became a sanctuary for safe gathering. Baragwanath Hospital, the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere. Hector
Pieterson Memorial, Hector Pieterson (13 yrs. old) was one of the first students to be killed by South African police during the 1976 Student uprising. This uprising started on the 16th of June as a peaceful protest march organized by school students in Soweto. They marched against the system of Bantu Education in schools and against Afrikaans as a medium of instruction in all African schools. Soweto has become one of the leading Tourist destinations, with refreshing hangout spots, public parks, clubs and live jazz bands.

Continue to Northern Johannesburg to visit Lilieslief farm. The farm was used secretly by the African National Congress in the 1960’s and was the location where many prominent National Congress leaders were arrested, leading to the Rivonia Trial.

Cape Town City Tour Half Day
On a clear day from the summit of Table Mountain you get spectacular views of the City, its Waterfront, Camps Bay, the majestic Hottentots Holland Mountains to the East and the mountains of the Cape Peninsula all the way down to Cape Point to the south.
The Table Mountain cableway, a must for all visitors to the Cape, boasts revolving floors, giving passengers a 360 degree view. After descending the mountain, you will depart on a tour of the “Mother City” taking in Signal Hill – where the Noon Day Gun is fired at midday, every day except Sunday – through the colourful Bo-Kaap or Cape Malay Quarter, past the Grand Parade, City Hall and the Castle of Good Hope and South African Cultural History Museum.
Cape Point Tour Half Day
Highlights of a trip down to Cape Point include; one of the world’s most spectacular drives, Hout Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Noordhoek Beach, the Cape Point Nature Reserve, two lighthouses on the tip of Africa, Boulders Penguin Colony, Simonstown and Kalk Bay.
